SAP has put Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) in the cloud. You can now use Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) 15.7 Enterprise Edition Windows and Linux on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for Bring Your Own License (BYOL) model. SAP has created ASE Amazon Machine Images (AMIs). Users can launch an ASE instance from the AMIs on AWS. The BYOL model allows users to use their ASE licenses on AWS as a deployment option.
Please go to Amazon marketplace (https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace) to look for ASE AMIs or click on the following links directly:
Windows: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B00PG79OWM
Linux: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B00PG7GZJM
To use this, please sign up for an Amazon AWS account and ensure you have the ASE Enterprise Edition CPU licenses from SAP. Follow the instructions of the guide (https://s3.amazonaws.com/awsmp-ReleaseNotes/SAP_ASE_BYOL_AWS_HOWTO_GUIDE_2.pdf) and create a VPC (Virtual Private Cloud) along with ENI (Elastic Network Interfaces) to get a fixed host. Then generate your license key on SAP Service Marketplace with the MAC address of the host. Log on to your host and copy the license key over to activate your ASE server.
Instance types of m3.large and above are supported except GPU G2 Double Extra Large and Cluster GPU Quadruple Extra Large.
